December 2018 Newsletter
I expect that you are all busy preparing for the festive season and the run up to Christmas!
I am delighted to announce some exciting new plans for Chartham Park in 2019. We are in the process of finalising £0.5 million Investment plan for the Club. This exciting development should take place in the Spring of 2019 and will include; a spin and high impact studios extension, new furniture in the family bar, work in the shower area, and some golf course works. We will communicate exact timings and more specific details to the membership in the New Year.
We hope you noticed a couple of things that we put in place at the Club to mark the centenary of the First World War on 11th November. Golf Member Michael Douglas completed some research on the history of Remembrance Sunday and the trees planted on Chartham Park’s golf course many years ago. We believe the tree by the 18th green was planted 100 years ago to mark the end of The Great War in 1918. Michael kindly arranged a plaque to be made in memorial. We also had a beautiful flag flying on the 18th green, delicately decorated with poppies.
Our Children in Need Day raised over £400, thank you all for your generous donations. We had some fun activities going on throughout the Club. Did you spot the staff dressed in their pyjamas?! Well done to Member – Abbie Hunnisett, who supported The One Shows Rickshaw Challenge in the pouring rain as they passed through Lingfield and surrounding villages. Abbie even got a photo with Matt Baker!
The children’s book sale proved very popular and we continue to do this as a regular fund raising event at the Club and book donations are always welcome. Thank you to our Duty Manager – Lyn, who has put so much hard work into keeping the donated books fully stocked up.
This is a perfect time of year to get a Wellness review or to try a new class as the Club is generally much quieter. January will see our usual rush of New Year resolutions and new 2019 goals. Why don’t you get ahead of the game and make an appointment with a Wellness Advisor now?!
If improving your Golf or meeting new playing partners is your goal for next year, then we have a full Winter calendar of golfing events available for you.
Our team of PGA Professionals: Ben, David and James are on hand to help. Please look out for the Golf Seminars that Ben and James will be holding.
On Friday December 14th, we have our annual Christmas Jumper Day so join us for a truly festive day at the Club. This is an event held throughout the UK in aid of Save The Children, so all monies raised will be donated to this great cause. Donations of your £1 locker coin will be gratefully received. So, don’t forget your jumper – any festive attire is welcome!
We still have some limited availability for our Christmas Party Nights, Lunches and New Year’s Eve Party. Please contact Catherine on [email protected] to book.
Thank you to all our Members for your continued support of the Club and on behalf of all the team at Chartham Park, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a very Happy and Healthy 2019.
