Rule of the Month
Winter Rules are usually in affect from around mid October to the end of March, this is almost half a year so they form a big part of your daily routine when playing in the off season.
A question has been asked a number of times this winter about changes to the club’s Winter Rules that were introduced in mid October 2019.
Winter Rules in previous years have referenced being allowed to take relief for an embedded ball in the rough. In the 2019 version of the Winter Rules, this is no longer referenced.
This is because in the past, the regular rules only allowed relief from an embedded ball on closely mown areas of the course only. This meant that to allow relief from the rough as well, it had to be included in the Winter Rules.
The new Rules Of Golf that were introduced in 2019 allow relief from an embedded ball anywhere in the General Area with only a couple of exceptions so there is no longer a need for it to be specified in the Winter Rules.
