Dawn Dulley’s Trek to the Himalayas For Pancreatic Cancer UK
Member Dawn Dulley is taking on an incredible challenge for Pancreatic Cancer UK. She tells us her story;
“On the 26th March, I depart for Delhi. I will take an overnight train, followed by a coach ride to the Dalai Lama where I start my Trek for 5-days along the Uhl River.
I will pass through Tibetan villages, sleeping in tents and trek a remote route with guides and fellow trekkers at 3050m above sea level.
I have self-funded the trip so everything I raise will go straight to my chosen charity; Pancreatic Cancer UK.
I have chosen to support this charity in particular as my godmother passed away over 30 years ago to this terrible disease. More recently, my good friend Linda’s husband died as a result of this too.
Unfortunately, the survival rate has not changed in all this time. PCUK only receive 1% of any funding from Cancer Research and yet it is the most lethal form of cancer and the 5th most common. The UK survival rate is around 3%, therefore any funds I raise are really needed.”
Good luck with your challenge Dawn!
